Every business has its own way of numbering paperwork, and most bookkeepers have an opinion about it. Now you set yours.
- A format for each kind of document. Proposals, jobs and invoices each get their own prefix, starting number and padding, so EST-1006, BK-1028 and INV-0001 can happily exist side by side.
- See the next one before you commit. As you type, Bookables shows you exactly what the next reference will read, padding and all, rather than making you picture it.
- Set once, then left alone. Numbering is confirmed in a single step that spells out the three references you are locking in. After that the row stays visible but read only, because changing a prefix later would quietly split one run of numbers into two while the old ones stay printed on your customers' invoices.
- Real invoice numbers at last. An invoice now mints a number of its own instead of borrowing the job reference.
