If you hire things out, the fleet is the business. Until now Bookables gave you a flat list of names with an on and off switch, which is fine for a meeting room and useless for four cars. Settings, Resources is now two levels.
- A type, and the ones underneath it. "Small hatchback" is the thing a customer books. HAT-01, HAT-02 and HAT-03 are the ones you own. The type carries the rate, so the Tesla no longer has to cost the same as the Golf.
- Counted, when counting is enough. Twenty identical life jackets are a number, not twenty named rows. Track each one individually where it matters and keep a count where it does not.
- The details that identify a thing. An item now carries its rego, serial or VIN, colour, odometer, condition, purchase date and price, and the list relabels itself to the rego as soon as you type it.
- Fields you invent yourself. A marquee needs a span and a guest count. A generator needs wattage. A camera needs a mount. Add a field from the form that needed it, name it once, and it is available on everything of that kind from then on.
- Opening hours belong to the depot. A car out on a five day hire is gone, not closed for the evening, so an item no longer pretends to keep weekly hours.
- A multi day hire is priced as a multi day hire. A five day booking quoted correctly on the dates step and then showed a single day on the summary. Fixed, with a test that holds the amount and the caption to each other.
This is the first part of a bigger rebuild of hire. Photos, maintenance windows and adding twelve of something in one go are still to come.
