A hire is a service where customers take something away for a while: a kayak for the day, a rowing machine by the week, a van for a weekend. You set the price per hour, day or week, and the units customers can hire. A hire can only be booked when a unit is free for the whole time.

Add the service
In Settings, then Services, choose Add service and pick a hire type, like "Kit hire".
Set the price and how it's booked
Under Price and time, set Price is to Per hour, day or week and choose Charged, like Per week. Under Booked by, choose The hour, The day or Set times. Add a Gap after if you need time to clean or check it.
Add your units
In Settings, then Things and spaces, add each unit, like "Rower 1" and "Rower 2", in one group.
Tell the service what it needs
Under What it needs, pick the group, like "Rowing machines · Any of 4". Any free unit is used.
Your hire services show on the Services list under Hire catalogue.
Under Payment and terms, turn on Ask for a security amount and set the amount. It's taken when the hire goes out and given back when it returns in good order.
Some hires run until the customer is done, like scaffold for as long as the job takes. Under Repeat and return, turn on Can be booked with no end date. Then set:
- Charged: At the end, for the time used, or At the start of each period.
- Notice to end: the earliest it can end once notice is given.
- Minimum term: optional.
To end one, open the booking and choose Give notice. The customer is told the end date.
To offer small, medium and large, add a question with One choice under Price and time, and give each choice its own extra price.
