Territories

If you travel to your customers, you almost certainly do not travel everywhere. Territories are how you tell Bookables where you actually go.

A territory is a named group of suburbs. You might have one, or you might have several: Inner north, Northern beaches, Out west, Tuesdays only.

Find them in Settings, then Territories.

Building a territory

Give the territory a name, then add the suburbs it covers. You can pick suburbs from the list, or draw an area on the map and take everything inside it.

Each territory gets its own colour, so the overview map reads at a glance and you can see where the gaps are.

Rules per territory

This is where territories earn their keep. Each one can carry its own rules:

Travel surcharge. An extra amount added to bookings in this area, for the ones that are worth doing but not at your normal price.

Booking lead time. How much notice you need for work here. Somewhere an hour away might need a day's notice when your home suburb needs two hours.

Booking hours. By default an area follows your standard weekly hours. Switch on Custom hours and you can restrict this territory to particular days and times, which is how you run "we are only out west on Tuesdays" without turning it into a weekly argument.

Who covers it. Turn individual team members on or off for each territory, so bookings in an area only go to the people who actually work it.

What territories do on your booking page

When a customer starts a booking on your public page and enters their address, Bookables checks it against your territories.

If the address is inside one, the booking carries on and picks up that territory's rules: its lead time, its hours, its surcharge. If it is outside every territory, the customer is told you do not cover that area rather than being walked through a booking you would have had to turn down.

That check happens first, before the customer has picked anything, so nobody wastes their time.

Turning it on

Territories are an addon, under Settings, then Addons. It is on by default for mobile trades and hidden for businesses where the customer comes to you, since a salon or a squash court has no use for it.
