Tax

Turning tax on, naming it, and setting the rate.

Tax is set once for the whole account, not per service. Find it in Settings, in the Tax block.

Setting it up

Three things to fill in:

Charge tax. On or off. If you are under the threshold and not registered, leave it off and Bookables never mentions tax anywhere.

Tax name. What it is called where you are: GST, VAT, Sales Tax. This is the word that appears on your proposals, invoices and receipts, so use the one your customers and your accountant expect.

Tax rate. The percentage.

Where it shows up

Once it is on, tax appears as its own line on proposals and invoices, between the subtotal and the total. Your customers can see what they are being charged and what portion of it is tax.

Changing it later

You can change the rate or the name whenever you need to. Documents already issued keep the numbers they were issued with, which is the correct behaviour and also the one your accountant would insist on.
