Adding and editing customers

Creating a customer, keeping their details current, and finding them again.

Most customers add themselves. Anyone who books through your public page gets a record automatically, with the details they entered. You will not have to type them in.

For the ones who ring, press New customer on the Customers page.

What a customer record holds

The essentials are a name, an email and a mobile. Only the name is genuinely required, though a customer with no contact details cannot be sent a confirmation, a reminder or an invoice, so it is worth chasing.

Everything else about them, their addresses and their pets and their vehicles, hangs off the record rather than sitting on it. See Properties, pets and other subjects.

Editing

Click any detail on a customer record to change it. Edits save as you go rather than behind a Save button.

Finding people

The Customers page can be searched and sorted. Above the list, a few figures tell you the shape of your book at a glance: total customers, new this month, how many you can actually email, and how many are active.

Tip: "With email" is worth watching. It is the ceiling on everything you might ever want to send your customer base.

Adding a customer mid-booking

You do not have to create the customer first. The new booking wizard lets you add one on the spot, which is what you want when someone is on the phone and you are typing as they talk.
